Unabridged Birth Certificates – Documentation to be presented at South African Immigration
The following documentation are required to be presented to a South African immigration officer upon entry or exit of a South African port.
Where parents are travelling together with their children, the following documents are required for each child:
- Valid passports with at least 3 months validity and a blank page left
- Unabridged Birth Certificates
When a child or children is / are travelling with only one parent, the following are required for each child:
- Valid passports with at least 3 months validity and a blank page left
- Unabridged Birth Certificates
- Parental Consent Affidavit from the absent parent who’s details are reflected on the Unabridged Birth Certificate/s
Minors travelling unaccompanied are required to present:
- Valid passports with at least 3 months validity and a blank page left
- Unabridged Birth Certificates
- Parental Consent Affidavit
- Letter from the person receiving the minor in South Africa or the person under who’s care the minor will be during the minor’s stay containing the following particulars:
- Said person’s residential address
- Said person’s work address
- Said person’s full contact details in South Africa
- A copy of the said person’s identity document or
- A copy of the said person’s valid passport and visa or
- A copy of the said person’s permanent residence permit
Where a person is travelling with a minor that is not his or her biological child, the following are required to be produced:
- Valid passports with at least 3 months validity and a blank page left
- Unabridged Birth Certificates
- Parental Consent Affidavit.
- The same requirements are required where a child is travelling in a group such as a school or sports tour etc.
